Instructions for
annotating sermons.
The sermons are all located on this page:
 http://www.georgekoch.com/SERMONS/Sermons%20by%20Number.htm
Please do the annotations according to these instructions, and just for the
sermon numbers that are assigned to you. You'll be given one sermon on which to
begin. If the work you do is thorough, additional sermons will be assigned.
You'll be paid $10 for each sermon you complete, after the annotation is
completed and returned. It will be your choice to either receive a check, or
payment through PayPal. Let me know.
This process is being completed for about 500 sermons preached over the last
11+ years, and will be used to create a database by topic, title, scripture
reference, keyword, lectionary (from the Common Lectionary), and so on. Your
skill in listening and writing is a vital part of this process. How you schedule
your time is entirely your decision: you can do the work at one sitting (or
more), at noon or at 3 AM. Sermons generally are between 20 and 30 minutes, and
average about 25. Total time spent per sermon will probably average about
an hour.
Please use this downloadable form to fill out and return:
ANNOTATION FORM.
Your answers should be on the blank line
following each item.  Each assignment should be returned as a
separate email, and the Subject: line of the email should include the
word Sermon, the number, and your name, like this:
Sermon 010 from Jane
Doe
Also found below are:
A SAMPLE Sermon Tape
Annotation

your answer on the form. It will get added to the common topics and keywords
list by us in due time. Keep this on hand for future sermon annotations.
A list of Bible book

Please use these for all scripture references. Keep this on hand as well.

One sentence short
description of sermon:
We are commanded to share the good news with those who do not yet know Jesus as
Lord, but we are to do it not just by our words, but also by the content of our
lives.

Outline AND Long description (200-500 words).  Please use minimal
indentation for your outline - flush left for 1, 2, 3, etc., indent one
space for a, b, c, etc., and indent 3 spaces for i, ii, iii, etc:
1. Jesus
gave his life to reconcile us to God
  a. This is
the good news and needs to be shared with others
     i. Others include those in the church who do not know
Christ
ii. Others include those we meet in our daily lives
  b.
It is a
free gift, not earned
  c.
It is
available to all
2.
For our
testimony to be believed, our lives should show evidence of our faith
  a.
It is
not just our words, but our actions – loving God and neighbor – that matter
  b. Sanctification is the process of growing up, maturing, being conformed to the
image of Christ
  c. Sanctification produces actions consistent with words
3. When we allow the Holy Spirit to work in us, He will also work through us to
bless others and to lead them into the kingdom
As believers, we understand the gift of Jesus Christ on the cross for our
salvation. It is really good news, but for non-believers it is often hard to
grasp. This is made worse by the fact that as Christians, we can appear
judgmental and mean-spirited to non-Christians, quoting Bible verses and
threatening eternity in hell to those who don’t accept our preaching. While it
is right to be concerned for the eternal destiny of everyone, sharing the good
news ought to be done in a way that sounds like good news, not as a threat, nor
condescending toward people’s beliefs, no matter how odd. If we truly believe
the good news, and act according to the two great commandments, loving God and
our neighbors, even loving our enemies and praying for them, our very lives will
give support to our testimony. The world is already too full of people who say
one thing and do another. By letting the Holy Spirit work in us for our
sanctification – our maturing as believers – we are made more credible when we
speak the gospel. This then allows us to participate more fully in the breaking
into this world of the Kingdom of God, and allows the Holy Spirit to use us and
work through us more fully.
Other comments (e.g. “sound quality poor,” “ incorrect
scripture reference during sermon,” or anything else you believe we need to
know!)
Long wait at beginning before sermon started. Long pause in middle.
